In today’s dynamic world, talent is abundant, yet the pathways to opportunity are often too narrow. For too long, the gateway to a life-changing career has been heavily reliant on a single document – the CV. Many of us have witnessed how this traditional method, while efficient on the surface, can inadvertently overlook incredible potential. The reality is stark: a significant majority of candidates, often upwards of 95%, don’t even get the chance to make a personal impression beyond their CV.

Is this because they lack the requisite skills, ambition, or the spark to be an invaluable team member? Often, no. The challenge lies in the sheer volume of applications, which understandably pushes recruitment towards “safe bets” – those with seemingly flawless CVs from recognized institutions or companies. This can mean that true gems, individuals who’ve taken non-traditional paths, or those who simply don’t test well on paper, remain undiscovered. This isn’t merely an injustice to candidates; it’s a profound missed opportunity for companies seeking to build diverse, innovative, and truly exceptional teams.

So what’s the root cause?

We identified that the biggest bottlenecks for companies have always been limited time, resources, and financial commitment when giving every applicant a fair chance to present themselves. If every interaction incurs a cost, the natural tendency is to narrow down the candidate pool prematurely to “safe bets”.

Therefore, at Flowmingo, we challenged ourselves: How can we dismantle these barriers and empower recruiters to see deeper beyond just a surface CV? How can we truly democratize the hiring process, offering everyone a fair chance to demonstrate their unique value?

Our solution was to fundamentally rethink the engagement model: a revolutionary pricing model where the core interviewing features of Flowmingo are, and always will be, completely free for recruiters. Our goal is to remove the financial barrier, enabling recruiters to broaden their search and give more individuals the chance to present themselves, their enthusiasm, and their unique capabilities directly.

How do we make this sustainable?

While companies can freely interview candidates, we provide candidates with optional, valuable tools for their professional growth. This includes personalized feedback on their interview performance, providing them with actionable insights and analytics to guide their improvement. It’s a synergistic, win-win system: candidates can choose to invest in enhancing their interview skills, and companies gain access to a wider talent pool without bearing the upfront interviewing costs.

Ultimately, our vision is a hiring landscape where genuine interaction reveals potential, democratizing opportunity for everyone.
