Guide
How to look for a job while you are still employed
Decide how private your search needs to be before you begin. Choose where your CV appears and which companies should be left out.
Use the same care when someone contacts you about a role.
Separate your search from your current work
Use a personal email account for applications. Prepare your CV on a personal device.
Check any relevant workplace rules. Keep your current employer’s documents out of applications and work samples.
Describe your responsibilities without sharing confidential customer information. Use examples you can explain safely outside the company.
Decide which companies to leave out
Write down your current employer and any other companies you need to avoid. Include a client or former employer when relevant.
On Flowmingo, add a company name or email domain to your hide list. The same list covers Get Discovered, Proactive Outreach and Auto-apply.
Check the list before starting. These controls apply to Flowmingo, so review other services separately.
Understand what a matching company sees
Get Discovered has no public profile page and is not searchable on the web. It shows you to companies with an open job matching you.
Before a company pays to see your full CV, it sees your initials, experience, skills and location, and your salary expectation if you chose to share it. Your CV has your name, email, phone and links blacked out at that stage.
Use the hide list for companies you need to leave out. Details about your experience may still make you recognisable.
Choose how you want to be contacted
Get Discovered lets matching companies invite you to their next step. Invitations arrive by email and on your Flowmingo dashboard.
Proactive Outreach sends emails from your Gmail, and replies return there. Check that the connected address is the personal account you want companies to use.
Auto-apply sends your CV to matching jobs automatically. Set your minimum match before turning it on.
Plan conversations around your work
Suggest interview times you can attend without sharing more than necessary. Move job-search conversations to your personal contact details.
Ask for privacy directly when arranging a conversation. It states your preference, though it cannot guarantee how someone else handles your information.
Example
I’m currently employed and keeping my search private. Please contact me through this personal email address.
Review your settings as your situation changes
Check your hide list when you change employers or clients. Keep your CV and contact details current.
You can turn Get Discovered off at any time, and companies stop seeing you.
Check your Flowmingo hide list before you turn on Get Discovered, Proactive Outreach or Auto-apply.
