How to prepare for an AI interview

Prepare to explain work you have actually done. A useful example can come from a job or a college project. Choose something you can describe clearly, including your own part.

Read the invitation before you start

Check the job title and any instructions about the interview. Look for a deadline and allow yourself time to prepare.

Read the job description again. Mark the tasks you understand and those you need explained. Keep your CV nearby while preparing, so your examples match what you submitted.

Get familiar with the interview room

On Flowmingo, free practice is in your interview invitation. It uses the same question format, recording and submit steps as the interview.

Use it to get comfortable recording and submitting an answer. The separate Premium Practice page is paid and includes instant feedback. Paying never changes an interview score: the AI that scores your answers cannot see who paid.

Prepare 2 examples you can explain

Choose a time you solved a problem and a time something went wrong. Write a few notes about what happened.

Then describe what you personally did. Finish with the result you can support, even when the outcome was mixed.

For a first job, use coursework or another responsibility you genuinely held. Make your contribution clear when describing a group project.

Example

Our group had different versions of the project file. I collected the latest changes and created a shared copy. We used that copy for the final submission.

Replace this with something that actually happened to you.

Answer the question that was asked

Start with your direct answer. Add the example that explains it. Keep unrelated background brief.

Read your answer aloud during preparation. Remove sentences that repeat the same point. Use words you would normally use when explaining your work.

Avoid memorising a full script. You need to be able to adapt your example to the question.

Check your setup

Test the camera and microphone on the device you will use. Listen to a recording and check that your words are clear.

Choose a quiet place and check your internet connection. Charge your device before starting. Follow the interview instructions about notes and other materials.

Be clear about what you have not done

Say when a task is new to you. Explain the closest relevant experience you have.

You can also describe how you would approach the task. Keep that separate from work you have already completed.
